2011/12 Women’s Challenge Cup Draw Preview

On Tuesday 26 July 2011 at 11:00 hrs (local time) six competitions will be drawn in the EHF Headquarters, Vienna (AUT). The draw decides which fixtures form the first two rounds played in all six competitions. It is a public event, which is free and open to anyone who wishes to attend.

The draw of the 2011/12 Women’s Challenge Cup will be the first draw of the six to take place.

Procedure Round 2

In Round 2, eight teams fight for two places in the next round. They are drawn into two groups (Group A, Group B) of four teams, where they play a tournament in Round Robin format. These two tournaments take place from 30 September to 2 October 2011 with only the two winners proceeding in the competition.

The draw of the Round 2 groups will be followed by a separate draw to determine the organisation rights in the two tournaments.

Procedure Round 3

In Round 3, 16 teams – including the two winners from Round 2 – will meet in a knock out stage. The first leg matches will be played on 5/6 November 2011, the second leg matches one week later on 12/13 November 2011.

Next steps

The eight winners proceed to the next stage, where they are put together with the eight top seeded teams in the Round of the Last 16. The fixtures will be drawn on Tuesday, 15 November 2011.
