Decision on case of EHF/THW Kiel - Alfred Gislason

Following the disciplinary proceedings opened by the EHF on 10 May 2011 against THW Kiel (GER) and their coach Alfred Gislason, after statements made to the media following the 2010/2011 VELUX EHF Champions League quarterfinal match THW Kiel (GER) vs. FC Barcelona Borges (ESP) on 1 May 2011 in Kiel, Germany, the EHF Arbitration Tribunal has made the following decision:

Alfred Gislason is sanctioned with a fine of €2,500 and one match exclusion (EHF club competitions). Reason: Derogatory remarks towards the EHF referees and the EHF, which may bring the sport of handball and the EHF into disrepute.
