Women's EHF EURO 2012 Qualification Draw

The draw for the Women’s EHF EURO 2012 Qualification will take place in Castle Nienoord on 27 April 2011 in Leek, Netherlands at 16:45 hrs (local time). The 28 teams that are playing for the 14 available places will be drawn into seven groups of four teams each.

Two nations will not be known after the Qualification Phase 1, where four teams play for the two last places in the EHF EURO 2012 Qualification on 03-05 June 2011. Placeholders will take the two places for these two nations.

The draw will be carried out by Jan Tuik, Chairman of the EHF Competitions Commission and Michael Wiederer, EHF Secretary General. The two will be assisted by Myrthe Schoenaker, Antje Angela Malestein, Larissa Van Dorst and Estevana Polman, all members of the Dutch W19 national team.

Pots and Seeding

The teams are seeded based on the EHF National Team Ranking valid for the EHF EURO 2012 Qualification.

Pot 1: Russia, Romania, Spain, France, Denmark, Sweden, Germany

Pot 2: Hungary, Croatia, Montenegro, Ukraine, FYR Macedonia, Austria, Serbia

Pot 3: Belarus, Slovakia, Portugal, Iceland, Slovenia, Turkey, Poland

Pot 4: Czech Republic, Lithuania, Italy, Switzerland, Azerbaijan, Winner Qualification Phase 1, Second Qualification Phase 1

Qualification Modus

The EHF EURO 2012 Qualification is played in six qualification rounds. All teams meet every group opponent twice, in one home and one away match. The rounds are planned to take place in three pairs.

Round 1: 19-20 October 2011
Round 2: 22-23 October 2011

Round 3: 21-22 March 2012
Round 4: 24-25 March 2012

Round 5: 30-31 May 2012
Round 6: 02-03 June 2012

The teams finishing on first and second place will qualify to the final tournament, that will take place between 02 and 16 December 2012.

Live Web Stream

The entire draw event on 27 April 2011 will be broadcast on a free-of-charge live web stream on the Official EHF EURO 2012 Website.

The draw event includes not only the draw of the EHF EURO 2012 Qualification, but also the draw of the final tournament groups of the 2011 Women’s 19 European Championships. The live broadcast from Castle Nienoord will start at 16:45 hrs local time.
