Men’s 19 European Open Championship Draw

Every second year the Men’s 19 European Open Championship is carried out, including teams from Europe and from other continental federations. It is played parallel to the Partille Cup, the world’s largest youth handball tournament of the world.

This year, the seventh edition of the tournament will be carried out on 04 - 08 July 2011 in Gothenburg, Sweden. 22 teams will compete in 4 groups, two consisting of six teams and two consisting of five teams.

On 18 April 2011 the draw was carried out in Vienna, with the pots based on the ranking of the 2010 Men’s 18 ECh in Montenegro and – for teams not at the final tournament – the ranking in the qualification tournament to the 2010 Men’s 18 ECh in Montenegro.

The draw gave us the following four groups:

Group A: Switzerland, Portugal, Montenegro, Hungary, Israel, England

Group B: Sweden, Norway, Slovakia, Belarus, Romania, Qatar

Group C: Russia, Iceland, Netherlands, Finland, Belgium

Group D: Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, FYR Macedonia, Estonia

In 2009, at the last edition of the Men’s 19 European Open Championship, Slovenia won the tournament, followed by Portugal and Norway.
