Spain, Slovenia and now Poland: Uros Zorman seems to like to travel around within the world of handball.
During the winter break of the VELUX EHF Men’s Champions League the Slovenian playmaker changed side within Group A, as he left RK Celje and joined Vive Targi Kielce.
But when both teams face each other in the crucial Round 8 match, the Slovenian will not be playing with his new team against his old team-mates, as the EHF regulations forbid playing for two CL clubs in one season.
Zorman is a three times EHF Champions League winner. He won the trophy once with Celje and twice with his former Spanish club Ciudad Real.
For the next stage of his career in Poland he has signed a long term contract in Kielce. Vive Targi President Bertus Servaas was highly satisfied with this reinforcement: “Uroš is on of the best playmakers of the world. With his signature we continue building a stronger and stronger team.”
In this interview with ehfCl.com Uroš Zorman talks about his transfer and his ambitions in Poland.
ehfCL.com: What you know about your new club, about your new team?
Uroš Zorman: I know that Kielce have big ambitions for the future and want to win the VELUX EHF Men’s Champions League. I believe that we soon will be able to say that Kielce is one of the biggest clubs in European handball. Club President Bertus Servaas is more ambitious than most of the other club presidents.
By looking upon the Kielce team you can find more and more big names every year. Also the team is supported by a huge number of frenetic spectators. We have a good coach – I guess you could say that Kielce stands for a great handball atmosphere in all respects.
ehfCL.com: Not only the club is ambitious, you are, too. After winning the VELUX EHF Men’s Champions League three times what is your impetus?
Uroš Zorman: I always want more! Before decisive matches I tend to realise that I am among the best in Europe. Then I have this great joy already before the game. I want to repeat this joy as often as possible. Even after having won the EHF Champions League three times, I want more success.
I moved to Kielce not only to play but also to learn something new. And most important: I want to be part of a team and to win as many titles as possible.
ehfCL.com: Was it an easy decision to change the club in this short period?
Uroš Zorman:No, it was not easy. When you live in your home country with your family and friends, the decision to leave is hard. But I know that Polish people are friendly, Kielce is a nice city and of course my family followed me to Kielce.
The match between Celje and Kielce is crucial, the loser is out of the race for the Last 16. This Round 8 match in Slovenia will be broadcast as a free-of-charge live web stream on ehfTV.com.
