EHF files a claim in Swiss protest case

The Swiss Handball Federation filed a protest after the EHF EURO 2012 qualification match (Qualification 2, Group 7, Round 1) between Russia and Switzerland, played in Chekhov (RUS) on 27 October 2010.

They disputed the non-compliance of the players’ substitution made by the Swiss team in the last seconds of the match reported by the EHF delegate and sanctioned by the EHF referees.

On 17 January 2011 the EHF Arbitration Tribunal made the decision to annul the result of the match and ordered the replay of the match, organised by the EHF.

The EHF Executive Committee held their 103rd meeting on 28-30 January 2010 in Malmö on the occasion of the final weekend of the 2011 Men’s Handball World Championships.

According to a decision of the ExeC, the European Handball Federation has filed a claim to the EHF Court of Arbitration against the decision of the Arbitration Tribunal. The matter will now be dealt with by the EHF Court of Arbitration (ECA).

The ECA is an independent court, regulated by specific rules and regulations. Find those by clicking on the desired language under "Rules of Arbitration ECA" here.

Cases are handled by an arbitral chamber of three arbitrators within the ECA Arbitrator List, nominated by the parties involved.
