"Against Superb Teams”

ehfCL.com: This is your first EHF Champions League match since 20 November 2010, in what shape is your team?

Csaba Konkoly: We have continuously been preparing for this weekend, getting ready by trying to model the rhythm of the EHF Champions League. During the EHF EURO 2010 we were playing test matches without the missing national team players. When they came back we started to work hard and also continued to form unity in our team. In the Hungarian League we are still unbeaten, and I hope that proves that we are expecting the Main Round with the required ambition.

ehfCL.com: How would you describe your group opponents Larvik, Leipzig and Dinamo?

Csaba Konkoly: We have been played with very strong teams so far, but now we are moving forward another step, and will meet with superb teams. Larvik show their strength year by year, and I do not think it is necessary to present Norwegian handball. They won the EHF EURO title again, and I am sure that Larvik have become even more confident after that title, and that they would also like to win the final of the EHF Champions League.

The teams from Leipzig gained EHF CL routine last season, this year they took advantage of that and managed to qualify to the Main Round. And last but not least Russian handball was always forceful and it has a national tradition. In the last 2-3 years Dinamo has proved to be better than the „eternal Russian champion” Zvezda. This is a good sign that shows we of course have to prepare very concentrated.

ehfCL.com: Which Russian players would you like to emphasize before Saturday’s clash?

Csaba Konkoly: Their 3-4 back court players by all means: Lambevska, Levina, Khmyrova and Kochetova. They have scored many goals in the Russian League and also in the EHF Champions League. So we have been preparing to defend against them. It will be also important to run back quickly after our attacks to avoid Russian counterattacks.

ehfCL.com: Is there anybody in your team who can not travel to Volgograd?

Csaba Konkoly: Unfortunately yes, it is almost sure that we have to miss our right wing, Adrienn Orbán, who has a leg injury and must rest. We do not want to take risks by having her play.
