EHF and Infront deliver the final highlight of the handball year

Infront Sports & Media, the exclusive commercial partner for the European Handball Federation’s (EHF) premier events, secured comprehensive broadcast coverage as well as the sponsor line-up for the Women’s EHF EURO 2010. The event will take place in Norway and Denmark from 7-19 December and fans worldwide cannot only follow it on TV, but also via a free-of-charge Internet Live Stream.

Comprehensive marketing opportunities

Thanks to numerous marketing opportunities guaranteeing high brand visibility, the Women’s EHF EURO has developed into an attractive communication platform. Sponsors benefit from TV-visible perimeter and board advertising, on-floor signage, media backdrops, onsite presentation and promotion stands as well as VIP hospitality.

Infront secured seven international and Scandinavian companies as Official Sponsors, many of which have been closely affiliated with national and international handball over the years: AJ (Home and office furniture), Bring (postal services and cargo), GF (insurance), Gjensidige (insurance), Grundfos (Pump solutions), HMN Naturgas (energy) and Nets (payment services).

Extensive broadcast coverage

In terms of media rights for the Women’s EHF EURO 2010, Infront has concluded agreements for 63 countries and territories worldwide. The event will be transmitted by 62 television and radio stations. Most of the broadcasters will provide live or near-live transmissions, depending on the time zones and broadcaster schedules. In addition, there is a high level of news access coverage within the countries and territories.

The longstanding relationship between Infront and the EHF allows to develop the EURO events in a sustainable way and to build up on the successes of the previous years. The Men’s event which took place in January 2010 in Austria reached a cumulative television audience of over one billion people enjoying 1,700 hours of coverage. In 2008, the men’s and women’s events together have achieved a total cumulative audience in excess of 1.5 billion, breaking an all-time record for the tournaments.

Production also overseen by Infront

The host broadcasting for the Women’s EHF EURO 2010 will be carried out by TV2-Norway and TV2-Denmark, providing state-of-the-art multi and unilateral broadcast production. This will involve up to 15 cameras per game, including tower cameras behind the goals, in-goal mini cameras as well as additional ceiling mounted cameras. All games will be covered and distributed in wide-screen 16/9 format with adapted and animated on-screen graphics.

In close co-operation with the host broadcaster, Infront will oversee all TV and Radio activities to ensure effective and smooth operations for media rights licensees. In addition, Infront provides VIP hospitality and handles venue advertising and dressing, which includes decoration material covering a total distance of 20km.

Free-of-charge Internet stream

This year the official website - www.ehf-euro.com/den-nor2010/ - will once again be jointly produced by the EHF and Infront. The platform offers fans extensive information about the event, participating nations, players and live game statistics. For 2010 a dedicated online broadcast service will feature online video coverage of all 47 Women’s EHF EURO matches. The service will be free and accessible as a live online stream or as “Video on Demand” providing fans with coverage around the clock.

EHF and Infront – Partners for 17 years

Infront Sports & Media’s relationship with the EHF dates back to 1993, when the Swiss-based sports marketing group took over the responsibility for both the television distribution and marketing of the European Handball Championships (EHF EURO) on a worldwide basis. In June 2009 the EHF and Infront agreed a long-term marketing partnership in until 2020.
