Hamburg hit by Duvnjak knee operation

After dropping one point in Presov, Hamburg's coach Martin Schwalb has to find a quick solution for the absent Duvnjak before the next match, against Veszprém.

Domagoj Duvnjak had to undergo an arthroscopy procedure last week because of pieces of fractured cartilage in his knee.

The Croatian back was injured on 9th of November, but continued to play, anyway. Last Wednesday, he was named best player of the Bundesliga match against Rhein-Neckar Löwen. Unfortunately, his troublesome knee didn’t hold out.

It’s certain that the 22-year-old will have to take at least three weeks break before he can return to the court. His absence is already noticeable, since Hamburg dropped a point in Presov without him.

Martin Schwalb will have to find a solution quickly since he cannot count on Duvnjak's help for the next match against Veszprém either.

"After his brilliant game against Löwen, Duvnjak's absence is big blow for us. The operation was inevitable, though, so we can only hope that he’ll be ready again soon. The other players will have to give their best to cover Duvnjak’s absence during his recovery period." - said Martin Schwalb.

The VELUX EHF Men's Champions League top game of Group B, HSV Hamburg (GER) vs. MKB Veszprém KC (HUN) on Saturday 4 December 2010 at 17:00 hrs (local time), will be broadcast live on our free-of-charge web stream on ehfTV.com.
