New structure and staff members at EHF Marketing GmbH

EHF Marketing GmbH, the marketing arm and daughter-company of the European Handball Federation, is pleased to announce new additions to its Vienna-based team following the restructuring of the company.

The rapid development of the EHF Champions League, which has included the addition of VELUX as title sponsor in the EHF Men’s Champions League from the beginning of the 2010/2011 season and the successful introduction of the VELUX EHF FINAL4, has led to a need for additional staff members and a restructuring of daily operations.

Commenting on the changes, Peter Vargo, Managing Director of EHF Marketing GmbH, said: “The huge progress we have made in the EHF Champions League in the past year has brought with it a new set of challenges and a need to look at how we move forward as a company. I am pleased to be able to welcome new staff members, who bring with them a wealth of experience in both handball and sports marketing, and who will play an important role in helping us to further develop and grow the EHF Champions League brand.”

Joining EHF Marketing GmbH from the beginning of November 2010 will be Alex Gehrer in the newly created role of Head of Marketing. Gehrer brings with him more than ten years of experience in international sports marketing, and is himself a former handball player and coach of the German beach handball national team.

David Szlezak also joins the EHF Marketing team as Manager of the VELUX EHF FINAL4, replacing JJ Rowland, who will move to a new position within the European Handball Federation from 1st December. Szlezak has been working in sports marketing for several years following a long career as a professional handball player, both at the top level in Germany and as captain of the Austrian national team.
