Current top scorer of VELUX EHF Men’s Champions League transfers to Kiel in 2012.
THW sign Marko Vujin
The reigning champion of the VELUX EHF Men’s Champions League is building the team for the future: On Wednesday evening THW Kiel announced the transfer of Marko Vujin. The 25 year old Serbian international, who’s currently playing for Hungarian top club MKB Veszprém will join the “Zebra squad” in 2012. Left handed player Vujin signed a three contract from 2012 to 2015 for the German record champion.
Currently Vujin is leading the top scorer’s ranking of the VELUX EHF Men’s Champions League with 29 goals in three matches. He arrived in Veszprém 2006 from Dunaferr. “We’re absolutely happy that we signed Marko Vujin,” THW’s manager Uli Derad said, “as we work on a successful future – and Vujin has a great future ahead.” In Kiel Vujin will meet a Serbian national team mate: Momir Ilic.
The transfer coup was announced right before the start of the Bundesliga top match of the “old Northern rivals” SG Flensburg-Handewitt and THW. And Kiel had another reason to celebrate aside Vujin’s signature: They won the duel 37:31 after Flensburg had been in lead until the score of 27:26 in minute 45 – but then the THW express started. Top scorers of this match of two participants of the VELUX EHF Men’s Champions League were Anders Eggert and Oscar Carlen (both Flensburg, each 9 goals) and Christian Sprenger and Filip Jicha (both Kiel, each 8 goals).
