Both teams tied on Match Day 2 of the VELUX EHF Champions League and nearly the whole match Kadetten Schaffhausen vs. Cuatro Rayas Valladolid another draw was very close – but in the final stage of the match goalkeeper Jose Manuel Sierra saved the second victory in the third match for the Spaniards. Valladolid took the lead in group C on Wednesday evening after winning 28:30 (15:15) in Winterthur.

The whole match was full of tension as both teams played on eye level. Schaffhausen had the great chance to go to the lockers with a comfortable lead, but after the 15:13 Valladolid equalized after two Kadetten mistakes to the half time result of 15:15. Until minute 51 and the score of 25:25 both teams were on absolute eye level, before the Sierra saves brought a pre-decisive advantage for Valladolid. The Spaniards were in lead 28:25, before Kadetten again reduced the gap to one goal. Coach Juan Carlos Pastor took his green card but it took until 59:50 minutes, when Norwegian internationalHarvard Tvedten scored the last and decisive goal for the Spaniards

Five players each scored six goals: Tvedten and Fernandez for Valladolid, Patrail, Ursic and Kukucka for Schaffhausen.

Due to this result Schaffhausen still wait for their first victory in this season of the VELUX EHF Champions League, as Valladolid remain unbeaten with 5 points now.

Petr Hrachovec (coach Kadetten Schaffhausen): „I can’t find the words to express my disappointment. Not the better but the lucky team has won this match. Some little things decided against us.

Iwan Ursic (player Kadetten): “The last shot in a match is always the most decisive one – and we failed. But we still have chances to reach our goals in the VELUX EHF Champions League.”
