No other club in question

SG Flensburg-Handewitt made an important step in planning for the future. Lasse Svan Hansen has extended his contract for four seasons until 2015. The 27 year old right winger has played since 2008 at Flensburg and completed 49 games for Denmark. eurohandball.com talked to the left-hander after his side, SG Flensburg-Handewitt team won 29:22 against the Romanian champion HCM Constanta.

eurohandball.com: What is your opinion about the game against Constanta?

Lasse Svan Hansen: We clearly won, but nevertheless, I feel that our performance wasn’t one hundred percent. We didn’t take our chances, especially from the wings, Their keeper also read my shots well. On the other hand I had not really worked out how I had to shoot against him.

eurohandball.com: What do you think generally about the chances of Flensburg-Handewitt in the VELUX Men's EHF Champions League?

Lasse Svan Hansen: With 2-2 points, we started as expected. However, it was a pity that we suffered a defeat in Ciudad Real, but at the end we couldn’t get closer. Our wish is for second place in our group in order that we don’t get such strong opponents in the next round. For this we must put Zagreb behind us. This requires a stronger performance than against Constanta. But I’m sure that we’ll play better against stronger opponents. But we must also be more attentive in our away games. In Romania, for example, we expect a more difficult task than at home.

eurohandball.com: Your contract has been extended until 2015. Did you think about it a long time before signing?

Lasse Svan Hansen: When I arrived in Flensburg two years ago, it was like a dream come true for me. Now I think it’s incredible that I can play five more years here. This contract extension was not a difficult decision for me. I can’t imagine playing for another club! Also the fans in Flensburg are just fantastic.

eurohandball.com: What was your best experience with the SG?

Lasse Svan Hansen: It was the victory a year ago in Hamburg. In the Quarterfinals of the EHF Champions League we had a really good run, and quite surprisingly, we had a big chance to reach the semi-final. At the end, we only missed by one goal. Next time we’ll succeed, because I want to win titles with SG.
