The Zagreb wing is the first MCL top scorer.
Vukić rising
After the changes after last season in Zagreb’s squad – five players left the club, four new came – it turns out that some new players take over the responsibility.
The best player from Zagreb’s clear 33:23 away victory in Constanta (ROU) was left winger Ljubo Vukić.
Despite Vukić having options to leave the club, Coach Nenad Kljaić insisted on the 191 cm tall player to stay with the club for this season, especially by praising Vukić’s defensive skills.
The 28-year old decided to stay in the Croatian capitol and proved the decision to be right by scoring 13 goals in the first round of the VELUX EHF Champions League.
Vukić was satisfied after the game: "We played very well in defence; also Marin Šego was excellent in the goal. We did good job in that game, but now we have to continue winning."
With 13 goals scored, Vukić straight takes over the leading position on the top scorers list. The performance has by many been seen as a sort of announcement of an excellent season.
He will have the next opportunity to prove that and to increase his score already on next weekend in Sarajevo, where RK Zagreb will face Bosna in a Balkan duel.
