16 teams set for Denmark and Norway

This weekend the race for the last available places for the EHF EURO 2010 in Denmark and Norway has come to an end. After nine teams were already set prior to the last two qualification rounds, the last seven places were decided.

Group 1
Ukraine and Romania made it through quite easily after they both beat Switzerland and Portugal.

Group 2
Hungary won the group and runners-up Sweden snatched the second EURO ticket by beating Azerbaijan and then the Czech Republic in a direct duel.

Group 3
Despite losing to already qualified France and to Austria, Iceland made it to the final tournament in December.

Group 4
Two defeats, against Germany – who were already qualified – and Belarus, can’t stop Slovenia from going to the EURO.

Group 5
Spain are already through, and after the clear victory over Greece a close one goal win over Turkey was enough for Serbia to qualify.

Group 7
After beating group winners Croatia, a draw in the last game against FYR Macedonia was enough for the Netherlands to slip through to Denmark and Norway.
