Draw Results 2010 Men’s 20 European Championship

The draw for the 2010 Men’s 20 European Championship in Slovakia took place in the EHF Office, Vienna, today at 13:00hrs.

Total number of participating teams: 16 teams

Directly qualified for the M20 European Championship:
From the 2008 M18 ECh: GER, DEN
Organiser: SVK
 
Qualified from the Qualification Tournaments:
First ranked teams:  SLO, Winner Qual. Gr.2, CRO, ESP, FRA, RUS, POR, CZE
Second ranked teams: SWE, 2nd Qual. Gr. 2, ISR, FIN, ROU

The substitute nations are:
No. 1 – Ukraine (finished 2nd in qualification group 7)
No. 2 – Greece (finished 2nd in qualification group 8)
No. 3 – Belarus (finished 2nd in qualification group 6)

The final tournament in Bratislava, Slovakia, will start on 29 July 2010, which will be also the day of the official opening ceremony. The preliminary round phase will come to a conclusion on 1 August 2010. The two top teams from each group will qualify for the main round (places 1 – 8), while the third and fourth placed teams meet in the intermediate round (places 9 – 16).

After the conclusion of these two rounds, cross matches, placement matches, semi-final and final will be played from 6 – 8 August 2010. A more detailed match schedule will be communicated within the next weeks when playing times will be finalised.
