2011 Men´s World Championship Qualification

Switzerland, Romania, Slovakia, Netherlands, Greece, Portugal and Lithuania go on to the Play-off (12/13 June and 19/20 June 2010).

The Qualification Round took place over the weekend in seven groups. Some of these groups saw huge battle between teams that took part at previous major tournaments.

In Group 2, Romania have beaten Bosnia Herzegovina by three goals taking the first place. Netherlands also had a difficult task against Estonia as in Group 4 only one goal decided the qualification. Greece have beaten Montenegro in Group 5, but the most dramatic game was a draw between 24-24 draw between FYR Macedonia and Lithuania. At the end the Lithuanians qualified with a better goal difference.

World Championship Qualification

Apart from the defending champion (France) and the organiser (Sweden), the three best ranked teams at the EHF EURO 2010 in Austria will directly qualify for the final tournament in Sweden.

The other 11 teams from the EHF EURO 2010 will have to secure their places at play-off matches.

FRA (defending champion), SWE (organiser), and 3 best ranked teams from EHF EURO 2010 (5 teams)

Qualified for Play-off
(from ECh AUT):                   

AUT, CRO, CZE, DEN, ESP, GER, HUN, ISL, NOR, POL, RUS, SLO, SRB, UKR (11 out of these 14)

Qualified for Play-off
(from tournaments):                   

GRE, LTU, NED, POR, ROU, SUI, SVK (7 teams)

The draw for the Play-off will take place on 31 January in Vienna.
