Larvik HK coach Karl Erik Bøhn talks about his team's chances win Group D on Sunday.
We want to finish the job on Sunday!
Through a home win against Buducnost T-Mobile on January 10th, Norwegian champions Larvik HK would not only make sure to qualify for the main round of the Women’s Champions League. They could also secure the first place in Group D before the last match day the following weekend.
During the Christmas break, Larvik have reinforced their squad by signing French international Raphaëlle Tervel from Spanish league club Bera Bera. Tervel, who was part of the French team that won the silver medal at the World championship in December, is not allowed to play for Larvik before the main round. Still head coach Karl Erik Bøhn is convinced that the rest of the players can do the job.
Eurohandball.com: What is the status on your squad before the deciding group matches?
Karl Erik Bøhn: The entire squad is free of injury. All players are in top shape. If we can stay at this level until summer, I will be a very happy man.
Eurohandball.com: You can accomplish first place in case of a win against Buducnost in the Larvik Arena on Sunday. How do you see your chances?
Karl Erik Bøhn: We are determined to finish the job before going to Russia for an undoubtedly tough challenge against HC Dinamo. So we are definitely going for the two points Sunday!
Eurohandball.com: Having won 27-23 away against Buducnost in your first group match will probably add to making you favourites Sunday?
Karl Erik Bøhn: Absolutely. Especially if you consider the fact that for the away match against them, we only had eleven fit players. During the entire autumn season we had lots of problems with injured and ill players. Actually the match in Sunday will be the first time this season we can send on our strongest outfit.
Eurohandball.com: Do you thin Buducnost can surprise you in any way?
Karl Erik Bøhn: I was impressed by the way they played in Copenhagen in the Champions League (25-22 for Buducnost against FCK, ed.) and I also know that they made some good performances in a tournament between Christmas and New Year. I do not say that we are sure to win on Sunday, but I do say that it will take an extremely strong Buducnost team to defeat us in Larvik.
