With four rounds to go from the group phase, Löwen, Veszprém, Ciudad Real, Barcelona and Kiel already qualified for the Last 16.
Five teams advance
The past weekend, the last match day of 2009, saw five teams secure their places among the best 16 teams of the EHF Men’s Champions League.
In group B, MKB Veszprém and Rhein-Neckar Löwen are leading the table by 10 points and with four rounds to go they cannot lose (not even in theory) their places in the Last 16.
In Group C, the title holders Ciudad Real are still spotless; their 12 points mean a place in the Last 16.
In Group D, THW Kiel and FC Barcelona Borges have also qualified. They have 11 and 10 points respectively, which will be enough in any case.
Apart from these five top clubs, a few more squads are just one step away from following them. However, 2010 will see a very intense fight for the top spots of the groups as well as for all the other available places in the Last 16.
