The Russian champions took the lead in Group A with a victory against PAOK.
Easy win for Chekhovskie
Chekhovskie Medvedi moved up to take first place of Group A with 4 points after a clear 37-25 win against PAOK.
The Russian champions had a very good day (in the first half, at least). The national player left back, Alexey Rastvortsev, and goalkeeper Oleg Grams were particularly in top form.
Rastvortsev scored 6 goals (8 during the match) and Grams made 9 saves out of 18 shots (50%)! With a 6-0 run Medvedi made it from 3-3 to 9-3 and they were leading 18-9 at the break. In the second half, the champions of Greece tried to come closer, but they were successful only in the first six minutes (20-15).
Chekhovskie scored many goals from counterattacks and reached a bigger difference at 26-17 (from 22-17) and 34-20. The top scorer of the game was Nikos Riganas from PAOK. The right back showed a great performance scoring 11 goals.
