The EHF FINAL4 ambassador made a special guest appearance in Kiel.
Lövgren launches EHF FINAL4 promotion
There was a palpable excitement in the Sparkasse Arena on Sunday 4 October as Swedish handball legend, Stefan Lövgren, made his first public appearance in Kiel, since his retirement from the club in the summer.
Long queues formed ahead of the German club’s first Champions League match of the season against Spanish side, Ademar Leon, as Kiel fans got the chance to meet and greet the face of the EHF Champions League FINAL4 in person.
Lövgren was in Kiel to kick off the first in a series of initiatives around Europe to promote the brand new EHF FINAL4 competition, the weekend ‘final round’ of the Champions League which will be played out in the LANXESS arena in Cologne on29 and 30 May 2010.
Half time in Kiel, and the capacity crowd in the Sparkasse Arena got another chance to welcome back their former captain, as the EHF FINAL4 ambassador made a special guest appearance on court during the break.
Jens from Preetz and Frank from Neumünster were particularly pleased to see Lövgren back in Kiel.
They were the two lucky fans, who caught two adidas Champions League balls launched into the crowd by Lövgren, and who now receive two pairs of tickets to watch the EHF FINAL4 weekend live in Cologne next year.
The EHF FINAL4 promotional tour continues on Wednesday, 7 October in Croatia when HC Croatia Osiguranje-Zagreb take on Alingsas HK from Swedish, when thousands of EHF FINAL4 flyers will be distributed to fans before the match throws off.
