Goalkeeper troubles in Aalborg

The experienced CL team, Aalborg DH, will start the EHF Champions League in the second qualification round this season. The Danes may face serious problems with the goalkeeper at the qualifiers and maybe also at later stages.

The Swedish national team goalkeeper, Madeleine Gustafsson, suffers from a back injury and it wasn’t even possible for the doctors yet to find the exact problem. Madeleine Gustafsson used to be known as Grundström, but she married a Swedish handballer, Mathias Gustafsson (AaB Håndbold), this summer. The unlucky goalkeeper has been suffering from back problems since national team games in June.

Waiting for test results

“We are still waiting for the results of medical tests,” Jan Hansen, managing director of Aalborg DH said. The goalkeeper could be out of action for few weeks, but it could even take months to recover depending on the results. The substitute could be the Montenegrin Ana Vojcic.

In the Champions League Qualification Round 2 – coming up at the beginning of October – Aalborg DH are in Group 4 together with Balomano Parc Sagunt, AS Ormi-Loux Patras and a team from the first Qualification Round.
