The goalkeeper Louise Bager Due is also expecting a child after Jurack announced the same news recently.
Baby boom in Viborg
Last week Eurohandball.com reported that Grit Jurack, right back by CL winner Viborg HK, top scorer of the 2008/09 season, is pregnant. She will miss the entire 2009/10 season.
Jurack is not the only Viborg player who will be out of the team for the same reason. Goalkeeper Louise Bager Due has informed the club that she is also expecting a child and will not be available for the season.
During the past couple of seasons the 27-year old Bager Due – playing for Viborg since 2001 collecting 55 caps for Denmark – was manly the substitute goalkeeper of Katrine Lunde Haraldsen. Nevertheless, the former Danish international Due has been essential player of the team.
While everyone is happy for her, the management started speculations about a possible reserve goalkeeper behind Lunde Haraldsen.
French replacement?
The club already signed a young talent, Sandra Mittet, who is guarding the goal of the Danish U19 national team. The question is whether Mittet has the necessary experience for a team trying to defend the CL trophy as well as the Danish championship.
Viborg have once again turned to the French Aurelie Rouquette. The goalkeeper spent parts of the 2007/08 season in Viborg. She is currently playing for Besancon.
Rouquette will be tested in the training camp that will take place on the Danish island Bornholm this week.
