Rutenka eager to win with Barca

The transfer of Siarhei Rutenka was the biggest summer hit in Spanish handball. The player leaving Ciudad Real for Barcelona was a surprise for the fans, but now there is a general big expectation from the player for the new season.

Rutenka talked to the official website of FC Barcelona and explained his feelings about this “galactic transfer” of a million Euro.

“Everything began early summer. It happened very fast, exploded like a bomb. I never had problems adapting to new places and I suppose that it will be the same in Barcelona.”

Concerning the new club season, Rutenka is optimistic.

“I will try to help my teammates and I’m sure they will do the same for me. It is complicated to say wher I prefer to play. The worst punishment for me would be not to play… Perhaps I feel least comfortable in the playmaker position. I met the coach and I had very positive feelings. He was a player himself and he understands us players”.

Rutenka recalled big games against his new club.

“I remember a game against Barcelona back in Minks when I was a teenager. I was watching the game from the stands and it was difficult for Minsk. I love the atmosphere of Palau. It is not easy to come to Palau as an opponent. The team with the special atmosphere of the hall may reach many titles. I will give my best for this”.
