Teams ready for the Quarterfinals

The eight teams for the Men’s EHF Champions League Quarterfinals have been finalised over this weekend as the last round of the Main Round has been played on the lagoon blue courts all over Europe.

The following teams have qualified:

Group 1
1. HSV Hamburg
2. Chekhovskie Medvedi

Group 2
1. Rhein-Neckar Löwen
2. HC Croatia Osiguranje Zagreb

Group 3
1. MKB Veszprém
2. SG Flensburg-Handewitt

Group 4
1. THW Kiel
2. Ciudad Real

Quarterfinals draw on Monday

The Quarterfinal Draw will take place on Monday, 9 March 2009 at 18:30hrs in Vienna.

The event will follow the Men’s Champions League Round Table Meeting, where the club representatives will be involved in the discussions concerning the steps to be taken for the future development of the Men’s EHF Champions League.

Draw regulations

The teams ranked first in their respective Main Round group will meet a second ranked team in the Quarterfinals. However, they cannot meet the second ranked team of their own Main Round group.

The home and away rights will be decided by the Main Round ranking of the teams. The group winners will play the second leg on home court.

Match dates

The Quarterfinals, which will be the first knock-out stage of the 2008/09 edition of the competition, will be played on 24-29 March (1st leg) and 1-5 April (2nd leg).

The exact match days and dates will be published in the days following the draw after consultation between the teams involved and the television partners.
