The Montenegrin handball star remains optimistic despite her serious injury. She may be out for more than six months.
Popovic: I will return stronger
Bojana Popovic had dreams before the season: to win a Champions League with Viborg and to beat Sweden in the World Championship play-offs to secure a place for Montenegro in China.
However, the serious knee injury on Friday ruined everything.
“The injury is more serious then expected. I thought that I only the front ligaments of my left knee were torn, but I damaged a cartilage and the meniscus too.
“It means that I will be out of the courts for at least six months. What can I say? I worked hard this season for the upcoming decisive matches,” Popovic told the Montenegrian press.
The absence of Bojana Popovic will decrease the chances of Viborg to win the CL title and also that of Montenegro at the World Championship qualifications.
“It’s sports, so you never know when such things happen. I will have to fight with this knee injury, work hard to be back on court after six or more months.
“But I think I’ll be back stronger and I’m optimistic about my recovery,” Bojana Popovic added.
