The Swiss André Schmid agrees to join Bjerringbro/Silkeborg next season.
CL top scorer moves to Denmark
Swiss international, André Schmid, who is currently leading the Champions League top scorer list together with Flensburg’s Lars Christiansen and Veszprém’s Marko Vujin, will leave Swiss Amicitia Zürich at the end of the season. The 25-year old will join Danish Bjerringbro/Silkeborg.
The playmaker scored 49 in six group matches played in the CL. His best game was against Ademar Leon when he hit the net 13 times. Now he signed for three years with the current Danish number one.
“I chose Bjerringbro/Silkeborg because the club contacted me at a very early stage. They acted extremely professionally during our negotiations. I’m looking forward to play for a Danish top club that can qualify for the Champions League.
“I wanted to go to Denmark very much. The fast and technical kind of handball played there suits the way I like to play,” Schmid said.
A complete player
“Andy Schmid can play in left back position as well as in the middle. He is a fast player, very intelligent. He is a top player and he is good in defence as well. In other words, he is a complete player,” Bjerringbro/Silkeborg´s head coach Carsten Albrektsen said.
Despite the goals of Schmid, Amicitia Zürich did not qualify for the main round. They will continue in the Cup Winners’ Cup, where they will meet another Danish team, KIF Kolding.
