FCK reinforces

Erlend Marmelund, a Norwegian international, will leave German HSG Nordhorn at the end of the season to join Danish FCK Håndbold.

A solid defender (on the right)The 24-year old versatile backcourt player and solid defender signed a two-year contract with the Danish team that was defeated exactly by Nordhorn in the EHF Cup finals last season.

In Copenhagen he will be playing together with his team-mate from the Norwegian side, goalkeeper Steinar Ege.

“FCK are ambitious to be part of the absolute European elite and I think they proved that. Just in the goalkeeper position they will have Danish top keeper Kasper Hvidt as well as Steinar Ege from next season. It is a highly professional club with an extremely skilled coach, so I’m really looking forward to moving to Copenhagen. In addition, it is a fantastic city,” the 1.97 m tall Marmelund said on announcing the contract.

“He is a terrific defender and in the attack he can play all three backcourt positions. He is a great shooter and in spite of his young age he has a lot of experience from Germany and from the Norwegian national team. I’m looking forward to working with him,” FCK head coach, Magnus Andersson said.

Erlend Marmelund is expected to play at the World Championship in Croatia.
