The young middle back reveals the secret of Buducnost: 100% for 60 minutes...

Great debut of Knezevic

After a less brilliant home victory against Elda Prestigio and a defeat in Vienna from Hypo, not many fans believed that Buducnost could avoid a defeat in Denmark against FCK Hanbold. However, Buducnost showed big courage and heartin Frederiksberg and managed to make a 22-22 draw and keep the chances to alive. With seven minutes to go, Buducnost were still four goals behind, but came back and even had a chance even to win.

Eurohandball.com talks to a rising star of the Montenegrian women’s handball, Buducnost middle back Milena Knezevic who plays her first season in CL.

Eurohandbal.com: Did you believe in a good result against FCK?

Milena Knezevic: If we wouldn’t have believed in the success, we couldn’t have reached a good result against such a great team like FCK, who have a lot of great players, international stars. In that game we gave a great sacrifice in defence, especially in the final minutes. We stayed close to our rivals for the entire match and in the most important moments we stepped on the gas and grabbed a point. We had a fair chance to win the game, but unfortunately we didn’t make it. But the most important thing is that we stayed in the match for the whole 60 minutes.

Eurohandball.com: Was this the best game of the season?

Milena Knezevic: We had a couple of very good matches in the Regional League, but I think this was one of the best – especially because of our defensive play.

Eurohandball.com: After three rounds, Hypo lead with all six points. Buducnost T-Mobile and FCK are level with three points. It’s obvious that those two teams will fight for the second place.

Milena Knezevic: I think we have the advantage now: FCK will have to play a game in our Moraca hall. There are three more games to play for six more points, so anything can happen. Anyway, if we want to go through, we must win both games at home (Hypo and FCK), and win the game in Spain aganst Elda Prestigio. If we will continue to play like in Frederiksberg, we can make it.

Eurohandball.com: How far can you get?

Milena Knezevic: We have a young and inexperienced team and I don’t know what our possibilities are. But I’m certain that we can play very good handball. To make good results we must continue fighting for every ball for the entire 60 minutes and we must give 100% every game.

Eurohandball.com: You are only 18 and this is your first season in the CL. In the first three games you scored eight goals. How satisfied are you with the number of goals you scored and with the time spent on court?

Milena Knezevic: I am very satisfied with the time spent on court and I try my best to use the time well and give my best for the team.Regarding scoring, it is not so important for me. The most important is to carry out the tasks given by the coach.
