The Icelandic is not expected to play for Flensburg until March.
Petersson: shoulder operation
SG Flensburg-Handewitt must cope without Alexander Petersson in the coming months. The 28-year old Icelandic national player has been suffering from a shoulder ligament injury for seven weeks now.
As the conventional treatments proved to be unsuccessful, the doctor of the team, Prof. Dr. Hauke Mommsen, decided to carry out an operation finally.
The Olympic silver medallist will undergo the operation in Hamburg. It means that the Icelandic will not be available until the end of March, probably.
“We lose the most important defender in the team and our second left-handed player fort he back court,” complained Kent-Harry Andersson. The coach and the team are expected to take a step towards main round in Hafnarfjördur this weekend.
“We are not even thinking about getting a substitute for the player,” commented team manager Fynn Holpert to the operation. “We have more players for each role and now Lasse Boesen will have to spend more time in this position.”
