Eurohandball.com talks to the new Pick Szeged player. Mario Bjelis enjoys playing for great objectives.
Bjelis: Szeged is one of the top clubs of Europe
Eurohandball.com talks to Mario Bjelis, new Pick Szeged player. The Croatian international is a line player. He previously played for Metkovic, Hammarby, Bregenz and Vigo.
This season he will play for the team of Vladan Matic together with many Hungarian, Romanian, Serbian and Montenegrin national players. This will be his sixth CL season.
Eurohandball.com: How do you feel in Hungary?
Mario Bjelis: I feel great. The atmosphere in the team is excellent. It can be seen at every step that Szeged is one of the top handball clubs of Europe. The preparations were very intense because the goal of the club is to reach the CL second phase. Of course, it won’t be easy. The only problem is my late start. I started to work with the team one month after preparations begun.
Eurohandball.com: You have experience of from Croatia, Sweden, Austria and Spain. You played European competitions. What is different and what is the same in Szeged?
Mario Bjelis: Szeged is the biggest club of my carrier. Last season they made 9 victories out of 12 CL matches, so everybody expects at least the same and to reach the next round. This is great responsibility.
Eurohandball.com: Your club will play in Group H against Zagreb, Wisla and Löwen. What do you think about them?
Mario Bjelis: Zagreb are clear favourites in the group. Löwen and Szeged will fight for the second place. We have a great team and with a great effort I think we can reach the second place.
