Barcelona defeat Ciudad

Ciudad Real are not unbeatable. Barcelona got the opening title of the Spanish season, the Super Cup, in a very exiting endgame.

Manuel Cadenas won his first title since he arrived to Catalonia last year. The hard defence of Barcelona in the first minutes opened a gap of six goals and Ciudad were not able to close it. Nagy and Kasper played on very high level in the opening game of the season.

Manuel Cadenas planned a very aggressive defence for the early minutes of the game. Accordingly, the Catalonian defence was very strong and Ciudad made mistakes.

Coach Dujshebaev tried to change the game with Urios, Steffansson and Abalo, but it was not possible. The Icelandic star of Ciudad had to play in the middle back position, while Urios was not fit and Abalo seemed to be stressed at his debut. Barcelona took a six-goal lead already before halftime.

Sterbik improved for the second half. The Ciudad goalkeeper made saves that gave hope for the team again. The CL winners came near to equalise, but Kasper and Nagy stopped them.

Barcelona kept at least one goal to the end. The season starts with a 26-25 Barcelona success and it also shows that Ciudad Real are not yet so perfect as last year.
