Beli: Naisa improving day by day

Ehfcl.com talks to Svetislav Jovanovic Beli, the ambitious coach of Naisa.

Coach Beli with the teamLast season Naisa won double trophy in Serbia (championship and cup) for the first time in club’s history.

The fans are also pleased, because Nis will host Group B of CL Qualification Round 1 on 5-7 September.

Beli talks to Eurohandball.com about the preparations, test matches and his expectations for the following CL season.

Eurohandball.com: Are you satisfied with the condition of your players?

Beli: We started the preparations earlier this season because of the qualification matches for the CL taking place in September. The first part of the preparations were at Vlasinski Lake and then in the hall and gym. After all, I can say that I’m very satisfied with the physical condition of my players.

Eurohandball.com: Did you also play test matches?

Beli: Two matches against Buducnost Podgorica to begin with. We lost both of them and I wasn’t satisfied with that.

But we did well at our third match against Kometal Skopje on 20 August. We defeated Kometal by 33:28. I’m especially satisfied with this match because my team showed significant improvement in our game.

Eurohandball.com: Last season Naisa won two Serbian trophies. This season you will have to play without your best scorers, Filipovic and Damjanovic, but with some new players who came to reinforce. Can you compare your team now with the team from last season?

Beli: I think at this point we have a slightly weaker team then last season. I’m very happy to see improvements every day. Players are getting used to each other and also they fulfil my demands more and more every day.

Eurohandball.com: What is Naisa's goal in this CL season?

Beli: Our goal this season is to qualify for the CL Qualification Tournament 2 and try to reach the 16 best teams of Europe - although we are aware that it will be extremely difficult.
