2008/09 Men’s EHF CL – Playing schedule

On July 4, 2008, the group matches of the 2008/09 EHF Men’s Champions League were drawn in Gothenburg in a joint event with the EHF Women’s Champions League.

A basic playing schedule is included in the Champions League regulations. However, the EHF had previously announced that the individual playing schedule in each group would be adapted to the playing hall availability situations and in order to have the best possible TV coverage for the games. This goes in line with the Champions League Regulations and has been common procedure for already some seasons.

In the days after the draw, the EHF together with the EHF Marketing co-ordinated the various inputs of the clubs on the one hand and the TV partners on the other. Especially the needs of the clubs from Federations with more than one participating team had to be taken into consideration when coordinating the playing schedule.
