The Slovenian played for Kiel last autumn, but now he will try to help CIudad to victory.
Clash of titans: Pajovic believes in a Ciudad success
Ciudad and Kiel are two of the strongest clubs of Europe and this they have proved over the seasons. And though the two star-studded squads have never met in the CL before, THW Kiel played with all three Spanish teams of the competition (Ademar, Barcelona and Portland). This highlight of the two top squads remained only for the final of the competition promising great matches.
Just to remind you: the two clubs played the final of the Champions Trophy in 2001/02 and Ciudad have beaten Kiel by 32-30. That game was a big debut for Ciudad Real on a European stage, while Kiel were already among the elite clubs of Europe.
Ales Pajovic: “I bet for Ciudad Real”
Ales Pajovic is in a special situation. The Slovenian international has played for both finalist this season. Ciudad had administrative problems at the beginning of the season and loaned Pajovic to Kiel from October to December last year. However, he did not take part in Champions League games with Kiel, so now he is eligible to play for Ciudad. He returned to Spain in January 2008 and helped Ciudad on their way.
Pajovic is optimistic about the chances of Ciudad:
“I bet for Ciudad Real. I know that we will play in a great atmosphere in Germany in front of 10.000 fans. They have great players, such as Omeyer, who is a very good goalkeeper. Their back court is very strong too with Karabatic, Jicha and Andersson. They have very fast players such as Klein, Kavticnik or Lundstrom. I cannot forget the other great players, Stefan Lovgren or Marcus Ahlm, either. However, I would bet for Ciudad Real”.
