Metlicic misses Main Round
The wrist injury of the Croatian international, Petar Metlicic, is more serious than it seemed at first glance. The 31-year old will be out for the rest of the Main Round.
Metlicic was injured during a CL match between Ciudad Real and Montpellier played on the 17th of February. The Croatian right back was pushed and he fell on his hand. The result was a wrist injury. Doctors said that he would have to take a 2-week break. However, new tests showed that small broken bones need more time to heal.
According to the lastest test, the player might be back by 19 March when Ciudad will meet Ademar Leon.
The loss of Metlicic is everything but good news for Ciudad Real with important matches coming up in the CL and in the Asobal League as well.
Luckily, Metlicic should be ready for the most important stages of the season, including the CL semi-finals (in case his team mates take the team so far) and the Finals of the Spanish Cup “Copa del Rey”, which will be played in Zaragoza (16-20 April).
Ciudad Real will have to do without three injured players in the following weeks. Metlicic, Chema Rodriguez and goalkeeper Árpád Sterbik are also injured.
