Though the left back was preparing for a return, her shoulder injury proved to be more serious than expected.
Season ends for Rotis-Nagy
Gabriela Rotis-Nagy has not played a single match for her new club, Slagelse DT. It seems that she never will. The shoulder injury, which kept the 27-year old left back off the handball courts all season, appears to be so serious that Rotis-Nagy will not return to active duty this season at all. As her contract with Slagelse will expire at the end of this season, she is not likely to ever represent the Champions League title holders.
As Eurohandball.com has reported earlier, head coach Anja Andersen will leave Slagelse after this season – and so do nine players from the current Slagelse squad. It means that Rotis-Nagy is not expected to extend her contract with the Danish champions either.
FCK an option
Gabriela Rotis-Nagy, who was born as Romanian, but she is Austrian citizen, joined Slagelse from Hypo Niederösterreich before this season. The shoulder injury she had was only expected to keep her away until Christmas and in January she was on the Slagelse bench for a couple of matches, but she did not play. However, the injury turned out to be so serious that she cannot play handball this season at all.
Rotis may follow Anja Andersen and the nine Slagelse players to FCK Håndbold from the coming season.
“I still think that I can get a lot out of her and investing so much time in her she is not a player I’m going to let go just like that,” Anja Anderse told the Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet.
“In spite of her shoulder injury, she still has a future in top handball, but she would not have one without the right treatment in time,” Anja Andersen added.
In spite of having no less than 23 players at her disposal in FCK next season, Anja Andersen could still work with another backcourt player as there are not too many in this position in FCK.
