Flensburg players and managers are looking forward to an exciting game in Pamplona.
Jensen and Knudsen return
The “weeks of truth” have begun for SG Flensburg-Handewitt. On Saturday at 16:00hrs a series of top matches will begin for Flensburg with the derby against Portland San Antonio including Bundesliga and Champions League games. This heavy playing schedule will be reflected in the travel schedule as well.
Last year’s CL finalist will take a charter plane from the Danish town of Sonderborg to Pamplona and they will fly back right after the match.
“Travelling like this we will have a couple of days to prepare for the Bundesliga derby against Kiel on Wednesday,” says coach Kent-Harry Andersson.
All the players will travel to Spain. The line players, Johnny Jensen and Michael Knudsen, who had a rest on Wednesday at the 38:22 victory against TUSEM Essen, will also fly with the team.
“They will both play,” says a happy team manager, Fynn Holpert. He is also happy about meeting stars such as Ivano Balic, Kristian Kjelling or Renato Vugrinec.
"It is good to play against such top teams. We must not be afraid because we know how we can play against similar teams.”
Flensburg goalkeeper, Dan Beutler, will pass his best wishes on to his Swedish national team mate, Tomas Svensson, who will celebrate his 40th birthday on Friday.
“I don’t know anyone who works as professionally as he does,” Beutler is looking forward to the game in Pamplona with even more excitement. “Anyway, I will not give him two points as birthday gift.”
