Manager Flynn Holpert talks about "new dimensions" for the club, while Lars Christiansen is happy to have earned a new contract with his performance.
Flensburg: new main sponsor comes, Lars Christiansen stays
Even before SG Flensburg-Handewitt presented new main sponsor, the logo of Sparinvest was already introduced in international handball. Lars Christiansen, Danish record holder who wore the team’s shirt already 522 times was beaming in the TV cameras with the jersey of the next season in his hands. The left winger has just prolonged his contract until 2010.
“I still have a lot of fun in handball,” said the 35-year old Danish player. “In addition, the club indicated that I achieved this offer not with my reputation, but as a result of my performance.”
Sports director, Anders Dahl-Nielsen, confirms this: “He still practices his trick shots 45 minutes after trainings. You cannot chase him out of the sports hall.”
This was the icing on the cake at this evening when Flensburg celebrated a milestone in their history with a gala event. The blue Champions League flooring, a red carpet and white round tables and chairs turned the Campushalle into a living room.
From the beginning of September Sparinvest and the SG management have been discussing a deal on main sponsorship. The term of the contract: 7,5 years until 2015. Both parties agreed not to disclose the financial details of the contract.
“We enter new dimensions,” revealed SG manager, Fynn Holpert.
It is also apparent in the reconstruction works in Campushalle. In December and January there will be further talks with the owner company, but many talk about expanding the hall’s capacity from 6,300 to 7,000 spectators. SG Flensburg need to invest 3,5 million Euro, but it should earn “6-digit additional receipts” (Fynn Holpert) every year.
