ETO coach positive about national team

After the last CL game of the year, Eurohandball.com talks to coach of Győri Audi ETO KC, Csaba Konkoly to know the secret of remaining unbeaten in the national league and in Europe.

Eurohandball.com:The team showed a great performance against Ribarroja once again. What do you think of the game?

The match against Slagelse was the most difficult victory so farCsaba Konkoly: I agree. Finally we started the game with the same determination as we played in Spain in the second half. We talked about it with the girls and said that we need the same passion and number of fouls and contacts. I’m also happy that we could avoid the ups and downs we experienced before. We could stay at the 11-goal difference that we reached by the end of the first half. At the end we could give the opportunity for the younger players as well.

Eurohandball.com:The Champions League arrives to a pause. What do you think about the performance so far after four victories from four games?

Konkoly: I think the team performed according to the expectations of the management. I hope that we will continue in spring with the same spirit. The national team’s good performance at the World Championship would be a key element as a success would have a positive effect on the players. I expect them – as coach András Németh too – to work with the same speed in the national team too.

Eurohandball.com:Are you not afraid that the players will return exhausted, as it happened before?

Konkoly: I don’t think they will. I trust a positive balance. It is tough to go through an international event, of course. During the CL’s Qualification Tournament we had two matches a week. I said back then that it was a very serious charge, especially against teams of that level and speed. The girls will get three days off when they get back to the team and we will start preparations for the upcoming period.
