Buducnost stops Viborg

Buducnost T-Mobile kept their promise. The team of Tone Tiselj gave their best during all 60 minutes and made a surprise. Thought Buducnost didn’t manage to beat Viborg NK, the draw with the Danish side (31:31) is just as valuable as a victory. The Montenegrin champions proved that the young players are on the right track and that the fans can expect good results in the near future.

The Montenegrin players celebrate draw as a victoryOn Friday evening, in a fantastic atmosphere in “Moraca” hall infront of 4,500 home fans, Buducnost T-Mobile played a great first half. The first 15 minutes were especially good for the hosts and they took a 12:6 lead thanks to six fast break goals.

Viborg equalised at 16:16 with the goals of their backs, Skov, Jurack and Popovic. At the end of the first half, Jovanovic scored a 7-m shot to give the hosts the half time lead (17:16).

Buducnost were leading until the 44th minute of the game (with maximum three goals) but Viborg didn’t allow them to clinch an easy victory. The Danish side first levelled the score, and five minutes before the end they had a 2-goals lead (30:28).

But then Jovanka Radicevic came who scored two goals to level the score again at 30:30. After a goal by Christiansen less then a minute to the end, the right winger was very cold and calm to score from a 7-meter short just a couple of seconds from the end, This Radicevic goal gave the home team a deserved draw.

The point gained will probably be enough for Buducnost to finish third in the group in front of Budapest Bank-FTC and to continue in the Cup Winners’ Cup.

Satisfied Tiselj predicts Viborg's title

Tiselj believes in a Viborg victory at the end of the season“The fans and the girls surprised me, thanks to all of them. I think it was a nice handball performance, a real show. I know it was not an easy job for my colleague from Viborg because his team have a lot of matches and they don’t have enough time to prepare for these games. They played on Wednesday in the Danish league and two days later they had to play with us. We wished that they would not be in their best form, and it happened.

"My team played a great match, especially in the first half. I think that a draw was the fair result because had the lead for a long time after them. It is important that the girls didn’t lose the courage when Viborg took a two-goal lead in the final minutes.

"This draw is a good result for us, a great encouragement for the future, but we must remain on the ground. This result is not a real picture of Viborg. The Danish champions are probably the best team in Europe and they will be in top form at the right moment. I think they will win the CL,” said Tone Tiselj, coach of Buducnost T-Mobile.

Jovanka Radicevic was top scorer of Buducnost with 11 goals, while Marija Jovanovic scored six. In Viborg, Jurack also scored 11, while Bojana Popovic, who played after five years in Podgorica against her former club, scored six goals.

“We started badly with a few technical mistakes. Before the halftime we came back, and the final 10 minutes of the first half we played on our level. The match was equal and the draw at the end was fair. However, I’m not satisfied after leading 30:28 with a few minutes to go. Buducnost improved a lot since the first game in Viborg, and I believe they will continue to do well,” stated Tomas Ryde, coach of Viborg NK.

Ana Radovic scored just one goal in the first half, but the middle back was the organiser of almost all attacks of the home team.

“We gave our best during the whole 60 minutes and I want to congratulate my team for that. I’m glad that we didn’t lose courage when Viborg were leading 30:28, but we proved our great character. Also, a big thank to our fans, who, as always, gave a big support for us,” said Ana Radovic.
