Buducnost tried to stop Valcea, but the Romanian champions continue in great form.

Valcea march on

Just as in Denmark against Viborg, Buducnost T-Mobile played a very good first half but didn’t manage to avoid defeat against Oltchim. The Romanian championS won the game (35:22) with an outstanding performance in the second half, showing all the qualities of the team that is certainly one of the favorites to win the Champions League this season.

Buducnost could not stop ValceaIt is no surprise that Valcea are the only team with six points in Gropup D so far. Buducnost T-Mobile, as FTC lost, are still third and keep on fighting for the third place.

Thanks to some good saves of Dinu, and also because of a few missed easy shots of the guests, Oltchim took an early lead at 5:1, after eight minutes into the first half.

Buducnost came back at 8:9 and 9:10, with a goals of Radovic, Dragutinovic and Milickovic-Orlandic, but the home team got a four-goal lead again at the half time (15:11). Scoring four goals in a row, Oltchim were leading 19:11 just five minutes after the break. Coach Tadici even had the opportunity to send on court more players than his collegue, Tone Tiselj, who used just nine players througout the match.

In the 54th minute Oltchim had a 13-goal lead, which was the biggest margin of the game.

On the home side Maier was the best scorer of her team with 7 goals, Olteanu scored six times, while Meirosu and Vadieanu both scored five. Radicevic was the best in Buducnost T-Mobile with seven goals, Radovic scored one goal less, and the captain Milickovic-Orlandic added four goals.

Tiselj positive and realistic

“If I compare the last two matches against two top teams of Europe, Viborg and Oltchim, I preferred the one against the Romanians, even if we lost by more goals. My players performed very well in defence in the first half, they were not afraid of the home team, but at the end it was the great quality of Oltchim to decide the match.

“We didn’t use all our players, there is time for that. I wanted to see how the team would react to the very aggressive defence of the Romanians. In such games you can see what the team and the players are made of, which player is afraid and which is not to play such strong duels.

“That was very important for me as a coach ant it was a great experience for the girls. Maybe the referees were a little too tolerant with the home defence, but I don’t want to explain the defeat with that. Simply, Oltchim are stronger at this moment and the Romanians deserved to win,” stated the coach of Buducnost, Tone Tiselj.
