Győri ETO visited in Spain and easily won against Ribarroja. The Hungarians could lay back by the end.
Second defeat of Ribarroja
In second Round, Cementos La Union Ribarroja suffered a 28:31 defeat from Győr. The Hungarians dominated during the entire match and they already had a nine-goal lead. Luckily for Ribarroja, the guests relaxed at the end and allowed the Spanish side to decrease the margin.
Ribarroja lost their second CL match. The disappointing fact is that they played at home, but they never had a chance to lead or at least level the game during entire match.
Győr started with a strong defence and dynamic attacking play, which immediately gave them advantage. The Hungarian players kept changing their position rapidly in attack, which was too fast for the Spaniards. Accordingly, the guests took a big lead of 5:11 in the 18th minute.
Gregorio Garcia made the right decision when he sent Barbara Brauer on the court. She was the only Spanish individual player who could cause trouble for the Hungarian defence. But on the other side, Görbicz and Vérten simply could not be stopped by the home defence. The first half ended 13:18 for the guests.
Ribarroja speed up at nine goals
Győr increased the lead after the break to reach the biggest advantage, 15:24 in 40th minute. After that, the team of Csaba Konkoly laid back as if they had already won the match. In the following minutes, the 500 spectators in Ribarroja hall saw many mistakes on both sides. Finally, the hosts showed better concentration and decreased the margin to make it 28:31 at the end.
The best players of the match were Görbicz with 12 goals and Vérten with 7. Ribarroja’s Barbara Brauer also scored 7 goals.
After two rounds played in Group A, Gypőr have four points and a great advantage in the group. Judging from the performances shown so far, Slagelse are favourites for second place, while Podravka and Ribarroja will most probably fight for third place. However, there are four rounds more to be played and nothing is decided yet.
