Győr's world class goalkeeper, Katalin Pálinger, talks about reaching the CL group phase.
Pálinger: Playing with heart
Katalin Pálinger, one of the best goalkeepers in the world today, has done a great road in the last seven years. Sbe left her home town club, Győri Audi ETO, in 2000 to return in 2007. In the meantime she played five years for Dunaferr and one year for Danish FCK and Slovenian Krim.
She made a successful debut in her new team as Győr won all three matches of the Qualification Tournament 2. Pálinger – as it usually happens – had a great share of the success. Eurohandball.com asks the goalkeeper after reaching the group phase of the CL.
Eurohandball.com: Did you know that the French team would be the toughest opponent in the group?
Katalin Pálinger: With the experience I have I was sure that Metz were preparing for the game against us. Accordingly, they did not care much about the game against Stjarnan. They have eight national players, so I expected them to be tough.
Eurohandball.com: How tired were you before the last match?
Katalin Pálinger: It was the third match for us and we had some illnesses and injuries. It makes it even more valuable that we could hold on to the lead and win. The French, who also have international routine, made good use of our mistakes and lost balls by the end of the match, but we were playing with heart.
Eurohandball.com: What is the schedule of Győr now?
Katalin Pálinger: We are facing three easier encounters in Hungary and than we have to start in the Champions League. The fans will enjoy battles like the one against Metz.
