Karlsson suffers serious injury

Thursday evening was gloomy for the Danish debutants in the Men’s Champions League. Viborg HK suffered a clear 35-26 away defeat in Hamburg and they also lost their new Swedish playmaker, Lukas Karlsson, who was seriously injured.

The girls will miss KarlssonKarlsson injured his shoulder at an apparently harmless accident in the first half of the match, and he may be out for a long time.

“It was strange. I was not hit particularly hard, and it did not really hurt in the first moment, but still it was a strange feeling and I could feel at once that something was wrong. A scan will show how bad the injury is – fortunately it is not my shooting arm injured,” Lukas Karlsson said.

Recently returned from injury

The 25-year old Lukas Karlsson joined the Danish silver medallists from the Swedish champions, Hammarby, before this season. He returned from a long injury in spring.

“I was injured from December to March, so it was very nice to come back and play on a top level again. Of course that makes this accident even more annoying,” Karlsson added.

Lukas Karlsson played 17 internationals for Sweden and won the Swedish championship in 2006 and 2007 with Hammarby. He also played in the Champions League last year.

Another Swedish player of Viborg, pivot Henrik Dreyer, picked up an injury in the Alsterdorfer Sporthalle, Hamburg too. However, his foot injury is not likely to stop him for a long period.
