Ana Vojcic: Aalborg can repeat last years

This will be 7th CL season for the 27-year old Ana Vojcic. Previously she played for Napredak, Knjaz Milos, Ikast and Buducnost. She won Cup Winners’ Cup twice: in 2004 with Ikast and in 2006 with Buducnost. She joins Aalborg from Buducnost to reinforce the Danes for the CL challenges.

Eurohandball.com: Which victories and titles are you most proud of?

Ana Vojcic: My best match ever was The 2006 Cup Winners’ Cup Final with Buducnost when we defeated Győr. I’m also proud of my first Cup Winners’ Cup trophy when I played for Ikast and we defeated Hypo in 2004. I must admit that the title with Buducnost means more to me because my contribution was greater in the final.

Eurohandball.com: Why did you leave Buducnost and come to Aalborg?

Ana Vojcic is satisfied with what she has seen so farAna Vojcic: I left Podgorica for family reasons. Of course the Danish league is the best in the world, while the Montenegrin championship is really weak without strong and interesting matches. This also influenced my decision and I accepted Aalborg’s offer.

Eurohandball.com: Are you satisfied with the trainings in Aalborg? How did the team welcome you?

Ana Vojcic: I’m very satisfied with these very special trainings. The Danish playing system is different from that of the Balkans, but I got used to both. Results are not as good as I expected, but I’m convinced that this is going to change. The team changed a lot from last season, so we all need some time to adapt and to get to know each other better. I’m personally very satisfied with the way the players and everyone else in the club treat me.

Eurohandball.com: Can you compare Varvari (Buducnost fan club) with The Sharks (fans of Aalborg)?

Ana Vojcic: First of all, it's really great to play in front of spectators like these in Podgorica and Aalborg. The Buducnost fans may be a bit more emotionally involved in a match, while Aalborg fans enjoy the show and surprises which the club prepares for them.

Eurohandball.com: Aalborg will play CL qualifications next weekend. What do you know about your opponents? Are Aalborg favourites?

Ana Vojcic: Three matches in three days are simply too much. Only the physically and mentally strongest team will qualify and I sincerely hope that this will be Aalborg.

I find Zaporozhye the most dangerous opponents, although the Swedish and Greek teams should not be underestimated either.

Eurohandball.com: If Alborg qualify for the CL, you get in the group of Krim, Zvezda and Nürnberg. What do you expect this season?

Ana Vojcic: I think Aalbog can repeat last season’s quarterfinals. Our strengths – fast plays with lots of fast breaks, typical Danish style – can also help us in this...
