Pivot Stays with Viborg Despite Competition

Lene Lund Nielsen, pivot of Viborg HK has extended her contract until the summer of 2010. The announcement comes after it is already known that the 28-year-old Danish international must face greater competition in future. German international, Anja Althuas – also a pivot – will join the ambitious club for next season.

Nielsen against Podravka in the Champions League“I do not fear competition. On the contrary, I think competition is an advantage and it will undoubtedly help me to improve. In addition, I find it good to have two competitive pivots who can take the pressure off from each other,” Lene Lund Nielsen told Eurohandball.com.

Happy to be in Viborg

“Another reason of my decision to sign for such a long time is that I feel very good at the club and in the town Viborg. I also believe that it is an interesting project to be part of the extremely strong team that Viborg seems to become in future,” added Lene Lund Nielsen. She joined Viborg from another Danish league club, GOG, two years ago.

“Right now, I definitely feel like a Viborg player. Of course, it is impossible to predict how things will look in three years when my new contract expires. At the moment, it is hard to imagine playing for any other club,” confirmed Lene Lund Nielsen.
