Aalborg DH Merges with ”Big Brother” 

Aalborg DH, CL semi-finalist last season and quarter-finalist this year in the Women’s Champions League managed to qualify for next CL season after Slagelse DT’s triumph. However, the club will merge with AaB as of 1 June.

Aalborg DH will be taken over by Aalborg’s largest sports club, AaB that already has football, ice hockey and men’s handball on top Danish level.

“Through this arrangement I feel certain that we can go with top level women’s handball in the city,” said one the owners of Aalborg DH, Jesper Skovsted when the merger was announced.

“I think this will strengthen not only AaB, but also the city of Aalborg and the whole Northern part of Denmark,” said AaB president Per Søndergaard.

Great ambitions

By being part of AaB, Aalborg DH – under the name of AaB in the future – will be part of the largest and most ambitious sports club of Northern Denmark. At the moment, AaB are fourth in the Danish football Superliga and their ice hockey team have just finished second in the for the fourth year in succession.

Boldsen may also play for Aab next seasonThe male handball team only finished sixth in the league this season, but there are great expectations from them as well for the future and several new players have already been signed, such as Joachim Boldsen coming from SG Flensburg Handewitt.*

Aalborg DH finished third in the Danish league this season, accordingly, AaB will start with CL qualifiers in the new season.
