The Serbian Slagelse star was awarded Player of the Year in Denmark. Anja Andersen is sorry about losing Popovic - signed by Viborg - at the end of the season.
Popovic: Player of the Year
Slagelse´s 27-year old backcourt player, Bojana Popovic has been awarded Player of the Year in the Danish women’s league.
The award, which is based on votes from all league clubs, was announced at the second leg of the championship finals between Slagelse and Viborg HK. It came as no surprise that the Serbian star got the award, as she has been playing in an absolutely outstanding fashion for Slagelse in the Danish league and in the Champions League as well.
To illustrate it, she scored 11 goals in the second leg against Viborg – won by Slagelse 32-25. Popovic scored well over 200 league goals this season.
Coach sorry to lose Popovic
“Bojana has been one of my favourite players of all times. I would not go so far to say that my relationship with her is as close as it was with my coach Frode Kyvåg when I played in Bækkelaget in Norway, but Bojana and I have been really close. She will always have a special place in my heart,” said Slagelse coach Anja Andersen.
Bojana Popovic will leave Slagelse and join the opponents in the championship finals, Viborg HK at the end of the season.
“I must say that Viborg made an extremely good deal with signing her,” commented Anja Andersen.
