After a nail biting finish in the Ostseehalle, THW Kiel were crowned the winners of the Men's EHF Champions League season 06/07!
THW Kiel are the Champions!
For the first time in the club’s history, THW Kiel took the Champions League trophy after a 29:27 win over neighbouring rival SG Flensburg-Handewitt. The all German final was witnessed by 10,500 spectators in a packed Ostseehalle and with only a few seconds left before the final whistle it was Kim Andersson who secured the celebration for the home team with the deciding goal to make it 29:27.
After a 28:28 draw in the first game last Sunday in Flensburg, Kiel had a better first half at home and was leading 15:10 after 30 minutes. However, the guest team never gave up and fought until the very last moment.
After SC Magdeburg won the Champions League in 2002, THW Kiel is only the second German club to take home the most prestigious trophy in club handball.
